Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to run the Site, answer you and deliver what you buy.

• Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message.
• Purchases: the email address, name and phone number you enter in the Razorpay checkout, plus the order ID, payment ID, amount and payment status. Card, UPI and bank details are entered directly with Razorpay and never reach our servers.
• Reader account: your email address, name (if given), your password stored only as a one-way bcrypt hash, the browser type of the devices you sign in on, and your reading progress.
• Usage statistics: the pages you view, time spent on them, the referring website, your approximate location (country and city, as reported by our hosting provider) and your browser and device type. Visits are counted with a one-way hash of your IP address and browser that changes every day, so we cannot recognise you across days. We do not store your IP address, we do not use tracking cookies, and we do not collect statistics when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
• Chat assistant: messages you type into the on-site assistant are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply. We do not store them.

2. How we use it

• To process payments and give you access to the books you buy.
• To create and secure your reader account, including sign-in and password-reset emails.
• To reply to messages and support requests.
• To understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful and improve the Site.
• To prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised copying of paid content.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Cookies and local storage

The Site uses only what it needs to work:

• reader_session: a secure, HTTP-only cookie that keeps you signed in to your library for up to 30 days.
• Theme preference: your light or dark mode choice, kept in your browser's local storage.
• Checkout state: the ID of an open order, kept in session storage until the payment completes, so the page can confirm it if your bank redirects you.

There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

4. Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that run the Site, and only what each needs:

• Razorpay: payment processing, under Razorpay's privacy policy.
• Vercel: website hosting.
• MongoDB: database hosting.
• Google: sending emails.
• Groq: generating chat-assistant replies.
• Cloudinary: hosting images.

Some of these providers process data outside India. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.

5. How long we keep it

• Account and purchase records: for as long as your account exists, and longer where tax or accounting law requires.
• Contact messages: until your enquiry is resolved and no longer needed.
• Individual page views: deleted automatically after 180 days. Daily visit counts use the rotating hash and cannot be linked back to you.

6. Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes, sign-in cookies cannot be read by scripts, password-reset links are single-use and time-limited, and access to the admin area is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

7. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Deleting your account removes your access to books you have bought. Email official.iamgurmeet@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 18. If you are under 18, please use the Site and make purchases only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed; significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
